JOB DESCRIPTION

JBWS is seeking a Bilingual Sr. Client Service Specialist. This position is responsible for providing case management, advocacy, and safety planning services to victims of domestic violence across three of our community facing programs: the Morris Family Justice Center (MFJC), Legal Advocacy Services (LAS), and Crisis Response Team (CRT). This position requires flexibility, the ability to work independently, and exemplary engagement skills with both clients and community stakeholders. A key role of this position is collaborating with on-site partners at the MFJC and in Municipal and Superior Court and providing crisis services to clients in community locations such as police stations and hospitals with the goal of reaching underserved domestic violence victims in the community. This individual will have a deep knowledge and understanding of the experiences of marginalized communities, working collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of those served. In addition, the ideal candidate has a strong cultural awareness to support and lift up all individuals regardless of their race, cultural identity, sexual identity, mental health status and/or substance use.

 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide overview of individual assistance offered to prospective clients and screen for eligibility.
  • Provide intake interview and assessment of needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and assist with safety planning.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments for partner services.
  • Assist clients with short-term and emergent needs i.e. obtaining food, shelter, clothing, etc.
  • Assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault crimes in seeking Victim Crime Compensation benefits.
  • Documentation of all activities on behalf of the client in agency database.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of existing resources and develop new resources, especially to meet the cultural and linguistic needs of the clients.
  • Answer incoming phone calls when requested.
  • Collaborate with MFJC, LAS and CRT program staff to meet the daily needs of the clients.
  • Participate in agency meetings, community events and educational opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS include but are not limited to:

  • BA in related field or BSW degree
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate proper affect, empathy, and compassion.
  • 3 years experience with case management and advocacy services required, with preferred experience addressing needs of individuals who have experienced DV and/or trauma.
  • Experience utilizing crisis intervention skills, conducting needs assessments, and assisting in safety planning.
  • Experience utilizing a strengths based, client centered, trauma informed approach.
  • Ability to work Mon – Fri 8:30am to 4:30pm with flexibility to work up to 2 evenings a week when needed.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be culturally aware and sensitive to challenges faced particularly in marginalized populations
  • Candidates with 40-hour domestic violence training preferred, however candidates without training must complete 40-hours of domestic violence training upon hire provided and paid for by agency.

Schedule Requirements:

Full-time 35-hour per week position
