JOB DESCRIPTION

JBWS is seeking a dynamic, committed Advocate for the Safe House Program.  Our ideal candidate has a proven ability to work effectively with clients around identified needs, including domestic violence; utilizes a trauma-informed approach in work with clients; can effectively and independently make decisions based on sound judgment; provides leadership to co-workers on shift; and provides strengths-based, non-judgmental, client-centered services. This individual will have knowledge and understanding of the experiences of marginalized communities, working collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of those served.

 

The position requires phone assessment of clients seeking shelter; case management with designated case load; provision of individual and group support around domestic violence; as well as skill building related to vocational goals; answering 24-hr crisis Helpline; as well as responding to Safe House client needs as they arise, including crisis management. Additional responsibilities include monitoring of security cameras and other facility related needs. Strong documentation and interpersonal skills are required.

 

Schedule requirement:  This position is full-time, with at least 2 evenings per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: BA in Social Work/related field or equivalent work experience
  • Work experience:  minimum of three years providing direct services.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
