JOB DESCRIPTION

JBWS is seeking a dynamic Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) Specialist for our Passaic County program to support domestic violence victim’s needs. This position will also collaborate with police departments and hospitals in addressing immediate safety and needs. Our ideal candidate has a proven ability to work compassionately and effectively with clients and their various needs, including the impact of domestic violence. Staff will utilize a traumainformed approach in work with clients; can independently make decisions based on sound judgment and provide strengths-based, non-judgmental, client-centered services. This individual will have knowledge and understanding of the experiences of marginalized communities, working collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of those served.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include but are not limited to:

Facilitate connection to crisis supports including JBWS shelter and other services. Provide timely response to request for DVRT services by police departments, hospitals, providing emotional support, psychoeducation, advocacy and planning for immediate safety and needs. Utilize engagement skills to develop trust in support of clients maximizing use of available resources. Maintain working knowledge of current community-based programs and provide relevant referrals as needed. Adhere to program and agency standard policies and procedures. Collaborate effectively across programs to meet client needs. Build and maintain relationships with municipal police departments and county prosecutor’s office including victim/witness staff. Participate in community partner meetings, events and activities as assigned. Maintain 24/7 coverage for Passaic County survivors on a rotating basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Include but are not limited to:

BA or equivalent work experience required. Bilingual English/Spanish (verbal, written, reading) required. Excellent communication skills including empathic listening and clear and concise documentation. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to positively represent the agency to various community service organizations and police municipalities. Experience utilizing crisis management and deescalation techniques. Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid drivers license.

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

This position is full-time 35-hour per week, 3 evenings required.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Full-time salary range $50 – $55K. This position also offers a benefits package including an employee wellness program, medical, dental, vision, life, LTD, EAP, 403B and generous time off.
