Student Internship Opportunities

JBWS utilizes between five and eight interns in several JBWS programs during the school year. In general, JBWS interns are first or second year master's level students in Social Work or Counseling. Most of the internships are for clinical positions and we sometimes have a need for administrative interns. All interns must complete a 40+ hours training program provided by JBWS. Prospective interns should work through their school internships programs. RAPID REHOUSING CASE MANAGER25hrs per week, flexibility in schedule of days/hours.  Schedule includes two evenings and flexibility to accommodate weekend hours, when needed.This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we launch a new Rapid Re-housing program for victims of domestic violence.  JBWS in Morris County, NJ is a full-service domestic violence and abuse prevention agency providing services to clients of all genders.  

A successful Case Manager will have a proven ability to work independently in the community, providing comprehensive case management services to families, including identifying and securing safe, affordable housing and developing skills to manage household budgets and finances.  Additionally, the candidate has experience delivering trauma-informed services; is able to effectively and independently make decisions based on sound judgment; and provides strengths-based, non-judgmental, client-centered services.  

A strong candidate will have experience managing and prioritizing caseload needs, effectively advocating for clients, and successfully collaborating with various community stakeholders (e.g. providers, landlords, etc.) on behalf of clients. The position will assist in the development of the program, engaging landlords and developing resources and processes, and requires utilizing initiative, motivation and a start-up mentality.

BA in Social Work or related field + 4 years of experience, including community-based work. At least one year working with the homeless population or other populations that face housing instability. Community outreach, housing experience and knowledge of Morris County services a plus. Valid NJ Driver’s license and ability to drive own car.

40-hr Domestic Violence training required, provided by agency upon hire. Previous DV professional experience and training a plus.

EVENING ADVOCATE for Safe House:

Sunday 3-11pm, Mon/Tues 3-10:30pm, Wed 3-11pm, Thurs 2-11pm.  JBWS in Morris County, NJ is a full-service domestic violence and abuse prevention agency providing services to clients of all genders.  We are seeking a dynamic, committed Evening Advocate for the Safe House Program. 

Our ideal candidate has a proven ability to work effectively with clients around identified needs, including domestic violence; is trauma-informed; is able to effectively and independently make decisions based on sound judgment; provides leadership to co-workers on shift; and provides strengths-based, non-judgmental, client-centered services.

The position requires phone assessment of clients seeking shelter; case management with designated case load; the ability to provide individual and  group support around domestic violence and other forms of interpersonal violence; answering 24-hr crisis Helpline; as well as responding to Safe House client needs as they arise, including crisis management. Additional responsibilities include monitoring of security cameras and other facility related needs.

Strong documentation and interpersonal skills are required. Candidates with 40-hour domestic violence training preferred however candidates without training must complete 40-hours of domestic violence training upon hire.

Qualified candidates will possess a BA in Social Work or related field and a minimum of three years relevant experience or equivalent education.

CASE MANAGER forTransitional Living Program: FT Mon-Thurs including 3 evenings (Mon 1:00-10 pm, Tues 1-10, Wed 9-5, Th 1-10). JBWS in Morris County, NJ is a full-service domestic violence and abuse prevention agency providing services to clients of all genders.  We are seeking a dynamic, committed Case Manager for our Transitional Living Program.  Our ideal candidate has a proven ability to work effectively with clients around identified needs, including domestic violence; is trauma-informed; is able to effectively and independently make decisions based on sound judgment; and provides strengths-based, non-judgmental, client-centered services.   Additionally, strong candidates will have experience leading cases, advocating for clients, and collaborating with others on behalf of clients.

 

The position has a designated case load of clients living in the longer term (up to two years) Transitional Living Program (TLP). This position is the lead staff working with TLP clients, utilizing initiative and motivation to engage clients and link them to services with other staff and community providers. Additional responsibilities include monitoring of security cameras and other facility related needs. Strong documentation and interpersonal skills are required.

 

BA in social work or related field +2 years of direct service experience, required.  Candidates with 40-hour domestic violence training, preferred, however candidates without training must complete 40-hours of domestic violence training upon hire. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

EDUCATOR for TEENS/YOUTH 15-hour per week (2 ½ days for 10-months) educator to lead dating abuse prevention programs in middle schools, high schools and colleges. Excellent presentation skills, knowledge and sensitivity to issues of dating and domestic violence, ability to relate to adolescents, parents and teachers. BA in health education, gender studies, psychology, or related field.

HOURLY ACT BILINGUAL COUNSELOR 

JBWS  is seeking an hourly counselor  to join a team of dedicated professionals to work with men in an abuse intervention program. This  reliable, and flexible individual will be responsible for providing group counseling, intake sessions and ongoing support to perpetrators of domestic abuse. Licensed (LSW/LCSW or LAC/LPC)  or license eligible preferred.  Bilingual in Spanish required. Must be available Thursday evenings to facilitate group.
