PRESIDENT & CEO

Jersey Battered Women’s Service’s (JBWS’) Board of Directors seeks a President & CEO who will be responsible for implementation of the strategic plan, operations of the agency, and the agency’s ongoing financial health.  The successful candidate will ensure the organization delivers high-quality crisis interventions, client support and educational programs in a manner that meets or exceeds program objectives.  Additionally, the successful candidate will actively participate in fund raising and influence policy and legislation to further the mission of the organization.

Essential leadership characteristics include: passion, integrity, credibility, initiative, vision, competence, and responsiveness.

Key areas of responsibilities are:

  • General & Financial Management

  • Resource (Fund) Development

  • Public Relations and Advocacy

  • Staff Management

  • Program Development

  • Board of Directors Communications and Engagement

Location:

Based in Morris County, New Jersey

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Business or Social Work is preferred, with substantial non-profit organization leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated leader with supervisory skills and success having led multiple functions.

  • Knowledge of domestic violence and problems faced by abuse victims and their families preferred

  • Grant writing and grants management experience.

  • Fund raising and public relations skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

HOURLY COUNSELORS

JBWS seeks hourly counselors to join a team of dedicated professionals to work with men in an abuse intervention program. These reliable and flexible individuals will be responsible for providing group counseling, intake sessions and ongoing support to perpetrators of domestic abuse. Licensed (LSW/LCSW or LAC/LPC)  or license eligible preferred.  Bilingual in Spanish highly desired. May include weekday evenings and/or Saturday mornings. Candidate must complete 40 hours of domestic violence training upon hire. Send cover letter and resume to employment@jbws.org. EOE

Per diem positions in Safe House

including day, evening and overnight (awake position). Seeking per diem advocate to provide support and advocacy for residential clients. Responsibilities include helpline, crisis intervention, intake, assessment and security cameras. BSW or related degree is required. Send cover letter and resume toemployment@jbws.org. EOE

Per diem Overnight Advocate (awake position) to work weekends.

Student Internship Opportunities

JBWS utilizes between five and eight interns in several JBWS programs during the school year. In general, JBWS interns are first or second year master's level students in Social Work or Counseling. Most of the internships are for clinical positions and we sometimes have a need for administrative interns. All interns must complete a 40+ hours training program provided by JBWS. Prospective interns should work through their school internships programs.
